Indian Oil – Aarogyam Project (Mobile Health Unit)
Objective
The Aarogyam Project, supported by Indian Oil, was launched with a vision to bring essential healthcare directly to the doorsteps of rural and marginalized communities who otherwise struggle to access quality medical services. The main objective is to provide primary healthcare, preventive check-ups, health awareness, and timely referral services through a well-equipped mobile medical unit. This project ensures that even the most interior villages, where hospitals are far away and transportation is difficult, are not deprived of basic health services.
Target Audience
The project specifically targets rural populations, particularly women, children, elderly citizens, and economically weaker families who are often left out of mainstream healthcare services. Many of these communities live in remote areas of Mathura district and neighboring regions, where health facilities are scarce and health-seeking behavior is low. By visiting villages regularly, the mobile unit builds trust within these communities and becomes their first point of medical care.
Impact
The Aarogyam Mobile Unit has had a transformative impact on the lives of thousands of people. Regular health camps and mobile check-ups have reduced the burden of preventable diseases, improved maternal and child health, and provided much-needed eye, ENT, and general consultations. The project has also created awareness about hygiene, nutrition, family planning, and preventive care, encouraging healthier habits in rural households. For many villagers, this service has meant early detection of serious conditions such as cataract, glaucoma, hypertension, and diabetes, leading to timely treatment and reduced suffering.
Sponsors
This initiative is generously sponsored by Indian Oil Corporation, whose commitment to community welfare goes beyond energy services to include social responsibility. Their support has made it possible for NIRPHAD to expand healthcare outreach and serve underprivileged communities with compassion and professionalism.
Statistics
Since its inception, the Aarogyam Mobile Unit has reached thousands of villagers across multiple villages, conducting regular health check-ups, awareness sessions, and treatment camps. Each month, hundreds of patients receive free consultations and medicines. The project continues to grow steadily, ensuring that no household is left behind in the journey towards better health and well-being.
